8 Fun Things to Do This Spring in Binghamton
Posted by Isabella Cavallo on March 7, 2022
The best season of the year is spring, in my humble opinion. The frigid, cold weather warms up with sunny days, leaves return to the trees and flowers line the sidewalks. While lounging outside or throwing around a frisbee on campus is loads of fun, make the most of Springhamton with these nine exciting events.
Spring Fling

Eat tons of delicious fried food and hop on one of the many crazy rides - maybe not in that order - at the Spring Fling. This annual event is returning for the first time since 2019 on April 30 and it will be a blast. Show off your skills playing carnival games, win prizes and talk to club members tabling on campus. After having fun in the sun all day, dance to some live music with a famous musical guest and the winner of Binghamton University’s Battle of the Bands. The musical guest has yet to be announced, but past performers have included Mac Miller, Drake, Playboi Carti and Walk the Moon.
Ropes Course and Zipline Open House

Get the best view of the budding leaves as you zipline through the trees on campus. Climb 35 feet up a tree to the take-off platform, then buckle up for a 225-foot zip line. If you are up to it, climb the cargo net and travel through three elements to reach the zipline ride. There is no better way to enjoy the warm weather than adventuring through the outdoors like Tarzan.
Ballroom Dance Revolution

Put on your dancing shoes and join the Binghamton Ballroom Association for their annual spring competition. The Ballroom Dance Revolution is open to all skill levels, so do not be afraid to enter, even if you have two left feet.
Restaurant Week

I love to try new food, but I am also on a college-student budget. Binghamton’s biannual Restaurant Week will be happening this spring from March 28 to April 7. Devour three-course meals for a special price at restaurants downtown, such as Lost Dog, 205 Dry and Craft.
Casino in the Woods

One of College in the Woods’ oldest traditions, Casino in the Woods is a charity event where students can win real money. The CIW dining hall is transformed into a state-licensed casino and all the profits are donated to charity. Attend one of the Poker Club’s meetings to brush up on your card skills before gambling if you are like me and only know how to play Go Fish!
Earth Day Festival

Celebrate Mother Nature this Earth Day on the Hinman Quad. There will be live music and speeches at the Earth Day Festival. Whether you have a zero-waste lifestyle or you are new to environmentalism, the festival will have something for you.
Binghamton Baseball Games

“Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd!” We may be far from Citi Field (sorry, I am a Mets fan), but the new baseball stadium on campus is the next best thing. Cheer on the 熊猫棒球队 at a game and check out the brand new field with your friends. Binghamton is also home to the Rumble Ponies, a professional Minor League Baseball team. Check the team’s schedule to buy tickets to their upcoming home games.
Theatre Department’s She Kills Monsters

Binghamton University’s Theatre Department puts on amazing productions, and this spring they will be performing She Kills Monsters. The drama-comedy play follows the life of Agnes Evans, who leaves her childhood home after her teenage sister, Tilly, passes away. Acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen references ‘90s pop culture as Agnes is thrown into an adventurous journey after finding Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook.
